The eDTLR (electronic Thesaurus Dictionary of the Romanian Language) site is launched
The Faculty of Computer Science from the Al.I.Cuza University of Iaşi launched the eDTLR site on March 9th, 2007, for the correction of the scanned form (8.700 pages) of the Romanian Language Dictionary - New Series (DLR).
If this action succeeds, the same process will be then applied to The Academy Dictionary - Old Series (DA).
This site works on benevolent contributions, just like DEX on-line. Because the public distribution of the contents of the dictionary is not wanted before obtaining the final form, in the action of text correction the user will only see a small extract on each access. The extracts are randomly chosen, and the dictionary will be afterwards recomposed like a puzzle game. The creators of this site hope that, involving a large number of contributors in the action of correcting the dictionary will result in obtaining, in reasonably short time, an electronic version as similar as possible to the printed original dictionary.
The material will be presented, for final revision, to the Institute of Linguistics Iorgu Iordan Al. Rosetti of Bucharest, the Institute of Linguistics S. Puşcariu of Cluj-Napoca, and the Institute of Romanian Philology A. Philippide of Iaşi.
The electronic version of the thesaurus dictionary (eDTLR) is going to be available on-line and on CD. Thus, it will be accessible to specialists everywhere - in lexicography, linguistics, terminology, computer science, etc. - whose work is related to the Romanian Language, as well as to the public in general.
